It has been called a mystical subject because mathematics has rules and patterns that are found in the natural observable world but also in dimensions that cannot be experienced directly such as the infinite. For example, the ratio of a perfect circle’s circumference and diameter is always the same regardless of the size of the circle. This ratio is known as Pi (3.1459…). The pattern of Pascal’s triangle is found everywhere from the human eardrum, plants and in the arrangement of the planets in our solar system. Despite this mystery, the rules of mathematics do not change – once the rules are fully understood, there is an opportunity to take advantage of its absoluteness and dive in.
